Sexual Health- A Vitality for Happy relationship

by karenwarde @ 27 Apr. 2006 - 12:16:42 pm

Sexual fulfillment is imperative for a happy and content adult life. Sexual health is critical to the success of a happy relationship. The compulsion to procreate is the very basic purpose of life and the reason why species can propagate. A healthy sexual life can, therefore, put a sparkle into a romantic relationship. However, in life, things are often not as they should be. And, many men suffer from the inability to achieve and/or sustain an erection. This condition, which is caused by a variety of physiological and psychological reasons, is known as Erectile Dysfunction.

Erectile dysfunction can be embarrassing and frustrating, but it is not hopeless, nor is it untreatable. Depending on what is causing ED, treatment could be therapy, medication or even, surgery. There are many orally ingestible drugs that treat ED which have proven to be very successful in treating ED. The best known of these is undoubtedly the little blue magic pill or Viagra, manufactured by Pfizer. The huge success of Viagra led to further research and soon other drugs like Cialis, which is Viagra’s greatest competitor, were introduced.

Viagra is an example of the category of drugs called PDE5 inhibitors, and it treats ED by relaxing the smooth muscles of the penis during arousal, leading to a successful and sustained erection. Viagra can produce this effect for 4 hours from the time of ingestion. Cialis has one major advantage over Viagra, in that it effective period is 36 hours, making life a lot more easy and normal for people using the drug.

Erectile Dysfunction is more common than anyone believes, and it may be easily cured. Your dream of a happy sexual life may be much closer than you think. Talk to your physician today if you suffer from Erectile Dysfunction to determine if generic Viagra or Cialis is right for you.

(Hardly seems worth it.)

Alcohol and pregnancy......Be Careful

by karenwarde @ 22 Apr. 2006 - 10:39:34 am

Women who drink heavily during pregnancy are at risk of having babies with a condition called fetal alcohol syndrome, which can result in growth deficiencies, nervous system problems, lowered intelligence, and facial abnormalities in the child.

There is some evidence that pregnant women who drink more than 10 units a week are more likely to have underweight babies. It is not known if there is an absolutely safe limit for drinking during pregnancy, but it may be wise to avoid alcohol altogether.8|

Good news for RED WINE drinkers......

by karenwarde @ 21 Apr. 2006 - 08:27:52 am

Men who drink red wine may reduce their risk of prostate cancer, according to a new study published in the International Journal of Cancer.

The prostate is a gland found only in men. The prostate produces a thick white fluid called semen, which is expelled during ejaculation. Prostate cancer is a disease where cells of the prostate grow in an uncontrolled way. The mass of extra cells forms the cancer. Prostate cancer occurs in men mostly over the age of 50.

The study showed that men who drank more than four glasses of red wine a week were 50 percent less likely to develop prostate cancer. For every glass of red wine drank each week, the risk of developing prostate cancer decreased by six percent.

In addition, the study showed that the men who drank more than four glasses of wine a week were 60 percent less likely to develop aggressive types of prostate cancer. Aggressive types of prostate cancer grow quickly and spread to other parts of the body, making them harder to treat successfully.

Red wine contains an antioxidant called resveratrol, which is not found in other types of alcohol.

Antioxidants are thought to 'mop up' free radical molecules in the body. Free radical molecules are produced by the body's normal chemical reactions, and are thought to attack and damage body cells. Antioxidants are also found in many fruits and vegetables.

The researchers think that resveratrol may protect the prostate and be responsible for decreasing the risk of prostate cancer.

Research has shown that drinking moderate amounts of alcohol can have health benefits but it does not encourage men to increase the amount of red wine they drink.B)

What Happens If a Woman Takes Viagra?

by karenwarde @ 18 Apr. 2006 - 09:50:38 am

A 47-year-old Cincinnati woman who uses Viagra regularly says that unlike with men, Viagra in women can cause a noticeable sensation when you take it. "I felt like there was a tingling in the pelvic area," she says. "I could almost feel the increase in blood flow. It felt like there was an increase in sensitivity."

The woman's doctor gave her Viagra after a hysterectomy made it nearly impossible to have an orgasm. She says Viagra has given her about 70% of her sexual function back. The level of orgasm "is not the same to what I had prior -- it's not as full," she says. "But it does make it easier."

Early studies of Viagra and women found it didn't work, but doctors say those studies weren't selective enough and included women with desire disorders who, like men with such problems, can't be helped by Viagra.

As with men, Viagra gets the blood flowing to the genitals in women. So for women who have difficulty achieving orgasm, vaginal dryness or a lack of sensation, arousal or engorgement, Viagra may help.

In a recent Pfizer-sponsored study of 200 women who either were postmenopausal or had undergone hysterectomies and who all suffered from some form of sexual arousal disorder, half were given Viagra and half were given a placebo. Researchers found that 57% of women taking Viagra reported improved sensation in the genital area, compared with 44% in the placebo group.

Even so, many researchers say sexual problems are far more complex in women than in men, and it's unlikely Viagra will ever work as well for women as for men.

Viagra works on Flowers also !!!!!!!

by karenwarde @ 17 Apr. 2006 - 05:17:04 am

Hi all.....

Yesterday when i was going through some old magzines.....i found an interesting article which i think i must share with others also. The British Medical Journal claims that Viagra make flowers stand up straight ! It seems that sildenafil citrate (Viagra's technical name) is not only good for treating male impotence, as Israeli and Australian researchers have discovered that small concentrations of the drug can also double the shelf life of cut flowers, making them stand up straight for as long as a week beyond their natural lifespan.

Isn't that interesting fact. Feel free to send me some interesting news like this.....or do comment on it.
